The Matrix, 2014

The Matrix
I started this painting on December 31, 2013, while web streaming the OneThing Conference from IHOP-KC during Matt Gilman's worship bringing in 2014. It has evolved, layer upon layer, since that New Year's night. A little like our lives, the times we live in, our memories, our understanding of truth, our transformations, as we grow and experience this life. I got the name from the movie "The Matrix," (though my son thinks that's a silly name for it). But I feel it fits. The movie is really about two realities... or should I say, the world that we think we live in, and the world that is Truth... It is the realm of the "totally other than" that I am exploring, expressing, and hoping to interest you, the viewer, into pondering. And I am realizing that in every artwork I do poses a question. And I know now that it is the way that the Lord, my God and Father, whom I most affectionately refer to as Abba, communicates with me. The question. Not because He is in need of an answer, for He is the Creator of all things, and knows our thoughts before we do... but because He created us to be critical thinkers, and wants us to connect to Him through wisdom and understanding. There is nothing hidden from His sight, there is no searching His understanding, as Isaiah 40 puts it.

"Awakening", 48"x36" acrylic on board, 8/8/11

"Awakening"
Original Artwork
created 8/8/11
This piece was inspired by the worship music of Jonathan David Helser. I was listening to, and worshiping the Lord with, his CD called "The Awakening". I had enjoyed this many times before, and even worshiped with Jonathan's music live (which was so awesome), but this time I was touched in a new and deeper place in my heart.
The tears began to roll down, and through this music the Holy Spirit of the Living God dug deep into a place of despair I'd been experiencing for some time (due to the results of a car accident a few years ago).
I felt a river of pain, discouragement, despair, and sadness pouring out with each tear as the River of God's love and hope and life began to touch me anew. I was washed afresh with the Father's love. I listened again, worshiping my Beloved Creator... And once again the River began to flow from out of me... Awakening!
And here is a glimpse on this piece of board, the Awakening...
Behold the wind, the water, the oil, and the fire of God's immeasurable, unstoppable, undeniable, unshakable love for you and me!

"Dunamis - Power of His Love"

"Dunamis"
"Power of His Love"
2008 Worship Art
original artwork
30x24" acrylic on stretched canvas

God's love came to earth in the form of a Man, Jesus. He walked among us, ate with us, laughed with us, cried with us. He taught us how to love by demonstration; discipled us in perfection; laid down His life for ours. When we touch His heart, because He has touched ours, what does that look like?

I would have to say that this painting is an expression of what He did for me the day He touched me with His love. It's just a glimpse. He touched me with a pinch of His love. He expressed it to me like this: "This is just the tip of a pin of my love for you. Its like an ice burg. What is seen is only a 10th of the ice burg. 90 percent of the ice burg is under the water. My love is so vast, so great, so powerful, that I can only pour out what's equal to the tip of a pin right now. More than that would be more than you could bear, its so powerful." So I knew that day, that though it seemed so overwhelming to me, it was just a taste of what He has for me.
As your heart is

Broken & Spilled Out

This was a vision the Lord gave me as I sat before Him, in the prayer room at Zadok House of Prayer (ZHOP), Fort Mill, South Carolina in 2006. I painted in in 2007.
